He should have known better.
That was what it came down to at the end of the day—him knowing better. Sometimes he did when he should have, sometimes he shouldn’t have when he did, and sometimes he just didn’t give a damn about knowing better or not, but for this particular scenario, he should have. And it was one of those should haves where it kind of smacked you right in the face several times for making that particular stupid move. It was a no brainer. An idiot would have known better. An idiot without their history to be concerned about would have known better. And yet, Dean wasn’t such a big fan of his common sense, lately—at least that was how it seemed. Fact of the matter was, when you feel like getting spectacularly wasted, don’t let a woman who has screwed you over multiple times in the past invite herself into joining you.
It never ends well.
