hasperkynipples: ([text] angel)

[starfleet] In which Dean is in a completely unexpected situation.

For the record, Dean wanted it to be known that he was really bad at this.

Even when he was human, his social skills were mediocre at best, but now that he was an angel, they'd really gone down the tubes. Which was somewhat daunting when knowing that he had the potential of meeting a sixteen year-old kid who wasn't even in his own time period. He wasn't even sure how this had happened. All he knew was that genetically speaking, he was this kid's father, whether it was through accident, intention or stupidity, and he wanted to be there. In some way. Some how.

He didn't know how, but he had a feeling that there was something there.

Besides, he couldn't have dragged himself out of this even if he wanted to at this point. He'd already dug himself in deep enough that he was attached at this point, he hadn't even met the kid yet. The Irrational Protect Reflex had already kicked in, and that meant Dean was already too far gone to be fixed.

Now he just had to wait for the kid to come to him.

That was starting to be a little harder than he thought.

"Yeah, it is," she nodded, before starting to head towards the door. "I love being out here in the winter."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
He looked around at the first signs of spring, but yeah, he could like winter here. He'd never gotten to actualy play in the snow, just for the shear joy of it and he sort of desperately wanted to. But he didn't yet know this woman well enough to share things like that with her. "I like how it smells so different."

"That's the magic of the world," she said with a nod. "No place is like anywhere else. Just like no person is like anyone else."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"We're all special snowflakes." Though he didn't disagree.

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She laughed. "In our own way, I suppose."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
He grinned. "Milk shake?" He opened the door. So why is Dean afraid you're going to break me?"

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
She rolled her eyes. "He's not. I'm just the bratty younger sister who gets to be a pain in the neck all the time. I like to get on his case."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"My younger sister could kick my ass. And she got on my case."

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I also have a habit of speaking his mind for him."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"He doesn't do that on his own?" That seemed odd. Alec was surrounded but people that just blurted out what was on their mind. Except Spock. He was factual and ever so slightly sarcastic. Even in Manticore he had a reputation for speaking out of turn.

"Human emotions are complicated. Dean doesn't like asking for things he isn't sure he should have. And sometimes, he can't exactly verbalize what he needs."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
"See, that different. Speaking one's mind implies opinion. Not personal wants." He dented to get spacific about appropriate use of words. At this point he had so many languages in his head that it helped to not confused them.

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Isn't wanting something an opinion in and of itself?"

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"It's different. Especially if you've been given charge of someone else." It was so much easier to speak up for someone else.

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I believe that's a purely human construct that deal's with what humanity calls a 'sense of propriety'?" She led the way through the diner to one of the booths and slid in across from him. "Angels don't see that concern quite the same way."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"It isn't just humanity though. It's other species and races to. The Vulcans say that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one." He slides in and then tucks his legs up so he's sitting indian style.

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"And angels don't disagree. But due to the nature of who we are, we don't have many desires that we need to speak for and what we do want, we say, or act on." She shifted so that she was mirroring his position before reaching for the menu. "With humanity, you make it seem as though desire is something to be condemned. Lust and gluttony are considered sins, et cetera. Overzealous pursuit is frowned upon, but there's nothing wrong with expression emotional wants."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Depends on where and how you grew up." In Manticore overly emotional behavipor was frowned upon unless it clearly benifited the smooth running of the unit.

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Fair point," she nodded. "A lot of human reactions are based on nuture, I've found."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
He grabbed the menu and started skimming through it. "Makes you cringe when you thrink of all the bad parents out there, doesn't it."

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, more than you know. There are some truly terrifying people in all walks of life."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Dude, look at who you're talking to. Do you know how disconcerting it is to find that you own childhood spawned a whole set of interplanetary laws?"

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
She chuckled. "I know. That was actually rather fascinating, from an angelic perspective."

[identity profile] smart-alec494.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"In retrospect? Not really the term I'd like applied? I think I'm glad I missed it and that makes me feel like a coward."

[identity profile] verseinunison.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"It's natural to want to avoid suffering, Alec."
