It had nothing to do with you, Ben. It didn't have anything to do with you, or being your dad, or anything of the above, because believe me -- right then, that life was looking pretty sweet.

But it wasn't meant to be my life. I had months left, not years. You deserved a dad who wasn't going to be turned into a chew toy.
