Frankly, there were times when he could use an expert's eye.
Not that Dean wasn't an expert himself, but there were guys with a lot more knowledge than him, and there might be something out there that the older people he worked with would love to shove off on a younger, more virile individual. After all, they weren't as fast as they used to be. They could always use a little help here and there. And Dean made a point of checking in on said hunters every now and again, just to make sure they hadn't -- fallen and broken a hip or something.
Or maybe he just wanted to see the look on Bobby's face when he rolled up with a guy who looked just like him, and it just happened to be a really, really big coincidence.
Either way, it was said to be a good time all around, which is why he called up Bobby a few nights back and said he was coming into town, and was wondering if there was anything he could pick up from him and take care of, and maybe grab a beer while he was there. Bobby sounded mildly annoyed to be hearing from him, and sounded like he was trying to dissuade him from making that particular decision, but since when had Dean ever understood the word no.
When he finally arrived at the salvage yard, it was like coming home after a long business trip. It was a place he was starting to think he'd never see again, and while it wasn't a mansion with king size beds in every room, it was quite the beautiful sight to behold.
He climbed out of the Impala and stretched his legs slightly. He turned back to Alec as he came up on his bike and gave him a grin.
"Whadaya think?"

He wasn't going to drag the kid in on his chores, but Alec seemed like he wanted to help, so he wasn't going to deny the extra effort.

He pushed up his sleaves and made a bee-line for the physical labor first. He knew he was more suited to it than the other two since it was entirely possable he could actually pick up the sedan Dean was sweet talking. He's wait until dark to poke his nosey little cat snoot into everything.

Sanding, greasing and really what was this thing that was wedged into the shed door that made it scream like a jet taking off and kept it from closing propperly? He grabbed it and yanked it free. Now there was a nice hole to repair. "Huh"

Bobby watching him. Staring. It had taken a minute to register because Bobby had been keeping an eye on him, but this was different. He turned towards the man and gave a casual grin, hoping to disarm if he's some how messed up. "Should I have not done that? You want me to put it back?"

He wasn't used to having people over, looking through his things, and he didn't care for it. Especially not with all the various information that his books contained...and with no knowledge of the person trying to see it.

He huffed and tried to let it go. But it had been right out there. Along with all this other neat stuff that he now got the feeling he wasn't allowed to poke at. "Then why was it out here? Kitchen's are public spaces." He figured if he couldn't touch or read he could at least know why.
